Painting snow

It’s winter time and where we live it gets cold often but does not snow that much. When it does decide to snow my daughter acts like its the best thing ever. She will play outdoors in the snow for hours if I let her. Well it snowed the other day so i decided to bring the snow indoors and do a painting activity with it. Painting snow was a huge hit and my daughter played till the snow started to melt.

Lets get started

Materials

Painting Snow

This painting snow activity is super simple to set up and if your little one is anything like mine this activity will provide hours of fun. The snow lasted indoors for a couple of hours. Even once it started to melt it just provided more water for the paint!

I like to use a storage container for my sensory bins as it provides enough space for Avalynn to move things around and enjoy the sensory activity.

Fill your sensory bin with snow and set your water paints on the side.

Have your child use the snow to get the paint wet and paint away!

This activity is a great way to build fine motor skills along with helping build creativity.

Variations of Painting Snow

Now I know there are many places that it doesn’t snow or if it ever does it super rare. Here are some different variations for those that can not use snow.

Using pillow stuffing is a great way to mimic snow. It is not cold and wet but using water paint and water will give you the same affect as paining with snow.

Another great idea is to freeze a bunch of water to create ice. Fill a tub with ice and have your child paint the ice..

Is this an activity your little one would enjoy?
