Valentines Dot Painting

We love doing seasonal art projects that we can hang up to display. After taking down the Christmas projects the house was looking a little bare. Valentines day will be here before you know it so I figured it was time to add some color to the house with this Valentines dot painting.

Getting Started

Materials

Valentines Dot Painting

This is a simple art project that requires only a couple of materials and very little prep time. Not only will your child enjoy stamping their markers this is a great hand eye coordination activity that will help build fine motor skills.

Start by cutting a heart out of the construction paper.

Then tape the heart to the card-stock paper. Fold the tape and place it on the back of the heart so that there are no tape lines once the paper is painted.

Let your child dot paint the paper. We used pink, red and purple to go with the Valentines theme but feel free to use whatever color you want.

Once your child is done dot painting set the paper aside to dry for a couple of minutes.

Once it is dry remove the construction paper.

Hang the painting up and enjoy. My little one loves when I hang her projects up. She enjoys showing them off to anyone and everyone in the house even the animals!

Variations of Dot Painting

If you do not have dot markers available there are a few different items you can use. Bring out some paint and create the dots by finger painting.

Another thing you can use is paint and q tips or cotton balls. *One tip with cotton balls is clip them onto a clothes pin so that it is less messy.
