Pumpkin Stamp

Have you made stamps out of potatoes before? Let me tell you these potato stamped Jack O Lanterns are so fun to make and they are simple enough for toddlers and preschoolers to enjoy. As fall comes and the weather starts to get colder we do a lot of indoor activities. Even though the weather is changing and going outside for activities may not always be possible fall does bring fun ideas for crafts and activities. I love adding new items in to our daily activities so adding these Potato Stamped Jack O Lanterns are perfect for a Fall and Halloween activity.

Lets get started

Materials

On to the Activity

Start by cutting the potatoes in half, once they are cut in half you can start carving the face into them. I recommend trying to cut the holes deep enough that the paint will not fill the holes.

*Tip*

* When cutting go in at an angle so that it will pop out easier*

Pumpkin Stamping

Once the potato is cut you can hand it over to your child for some fun.

This is where the paint brush comes in. You can either have your child paint the orange paint on to the potato to stamp or have your child dip the potato into the paint. For toddlers it maybe easier for them to dip. If you have a preschooler or older painting the potato first can be a great fine motor skill builder.

Then stamp away!

This stamping activity is a great fine motor builder for toddlers and preschoolers. It also is a great way to explore with new items while including art into your day.
