How to Teach While Reading

  • Point to the letters/ words as your reading them.
  • Show your child the pictures and emphasize the beginning sound.
  • Read books with pictures that they will recognize and know such as apples, and birds ect.
  • Repetition is key! It will take time and the more you read ABC books the more they will learn the letters
  • Keep it fun and don’t stress out if they are not understanding.
  • Choose books that relate to your child’s interest as they will be more likely to pay attention and enjoy the books!
