Introducing Nature through Art
My daughter absolutely loves art so anytime I can incorporate art in a learning project I know she will enjoy it. Not only do I feel that art is a great way to express creativity it is also a great way to help encourage learning in little ones.
Not only is this a fun way to introduce nature but there are so many different learning opportunities to wrap in with this project. Painting with nature would be great to include in a nature study. You could include a scavenger hunt for the items, read a nature book and go for a nature walk.
Getting Started
Materials
- Nature materials (Rocks, leaves, sticks, feathers ect.)
- Paint
- Paper
We had fun walking around together picking out the materials she wanted to paint with. We sat down and I put the paint out on a plate for her. Depending on the age of your child you may need to demonstrate what to do if they don’t understand.
She had so much fun drawing with the sticks and smashing the rock in the paint. She was mixing colors and going crazy with painting.
If you read my post you will know that my daughter may love art but she loves making messes. This art project is a great project for the mess makers! She thought it was so funny that the rocks had paint on them and that “the tree” (the stick) had paint on it.
She loved making the items messy but she also loved painting with new items. And so would your little!
Give it a Try! What nature items will your little one choose to paint with?
