I am a stay at home mom to a crazy, loving daughter and girlfriend to a wonderful man. We live in beautiful Colorado and we love it here!

The old working life

Growing up my dream was always to work with children. I always babysat for neighbors and family friends.  At the age of 15 I got my first job at a local church in the nursery. I loved working with children. After graduating from high school I started taking classes towards an associates in Early Childhood Education.  I had the opportunity to assist in opening a preschool from scratch at the church I work at. This was such an amazing experience. After a year of that I received a job at a local childcare center as assistant lead teacher for the toddler room. I worked in the toddler room for around 6 months before I was transferred to lead teacher in the infant room.

Being in the infant room was my dreams and it was by far the best position. That December I found out I was pregnant with my daughter.  I decided I wanted to continue to work. I knew that at the point we could not afford for me to become a stay at home mom.

Entering Motherhood

Avalynn was born in August 2015 and it was the most amazing thing ever.

Once I returned to work she was able to come to work with me and she was even in my infant room where I was the teacher. I loved being able to be in the same room as here. It made going to work that much easier. May of 2016 I received my associates in early childhood education. This made me not only lead teacher certified but now I was director certified. About a month after received my associates I received a promotion. I became director of a new center for the same company i worked for. This new center was going to be about 15 minutes away and Avalynn was not going to be able to go with me. I worked as director at this new center for a year and a half.

Stay at Home Mom Life Begins

September of 2017 I became a stay at home mom and let me tell you it has been the best decision ever. I ended up getting my bachelors in early childhood May of 2018 but at this time I feel that having a little one and wanting more eventually that I want to put my career on pause so I can spend more time with my daughter.

Working the first year of my little’s ones life made me realize how much I missed with her. I was very lucky that for a while I was her teacher but it just wasn’t the same as having my full attention on her. Becoming a stay at home mom has been fun but challenging.

Blogging?

After a couple of months of staying home I started thinking of things I could do to keep me busy while at home. Starting a blog seemed like the perfect idea. I love interacting with others and sharing my parting tips and experiences. I feel that Blogging here at Modern Small-town mama is a great way to still use my education experience along with being able to stay home.

My blog has been up and going for almost a year now. Blogging has been a great way to express myself and interact with other parents.

My Hobbies

Besides blogging here at Modern Small-town mama some of my hobbies include activities with my little one, making hand-made items, photography, traveling with my little family and selling Scentsy. I am so excited to start blogging to see where it takes me. and I hope to gain great friendships while helping others.
