What says Valentines more than a Valentines day slime! Slime is such a great science and sensory activity. If your little ones is anything like mine they will enjoy making slime. This slime is super simple to make, only uses a couple of ingredients and it will provide hours of fun for your little one.
But safety is first
Please watch your little ones with this and do not let them eat it.
-Adults should be the ones touching the ingredients and mixing the slime together.
-Slime should not go in or around the mouth
-Wash hands after playing with the slime to get any residue off.
Lets get started!
Materials
-1 bottle of Clear Elmer’s glue (5oz)
Do not substitute with any other brand as the ingredients may not work the same.
-2 Tablespoons of water
– Red Glitter or heart confetti
-1/2 Teaspoon of Baking Soda
1 1/2 Teaspoons of Contact Solution
**Important** Your contact solution must contain boric acid and sodium borate!
Time to make your slime!
- First, add your bottle of clear glue to a bowl
2. Add in your water and baking soda. Mix it all together
3. Add in your glitter or sequins and mix it together.
4. Make sure that the glitter and sequins are evenly mixed throughout.
5. Now slowly add in your contact solution. Remember your contact solution must contain boric acid and sodium borate or your slime will not form correctly. Ad your contact solution 1/2 teaspoon at a time and mix it good each time.
*Tip* Your slime may not take all the solution. Knead the slime each time you add more contact solution. If too much contact solution is added the slime will get to hard. If your slime is still to sticky after all the solution is added slowly mix in more by adding 1/2 teaspoon at a time. Most the time the more you knead your slime the less sticky it will become.
Now time to play with the slime
Let your little one squeeze stretch and experiment with the slime. We added some heart shape cookie cutters to our slime and my little one had a blast!
