Getting Started
This activity is great for all ages! My five year old had so much fun doing this and I also did this with a three year old that I watch! Depending on your child’s skill level you can change this up for their age group.
You can start by drawing the rainbow outline for them to follow or you can let them create their own as they place the tissue paper. Also with gluing you can either use your glue stick and make a strip where they will place the tissue paper or you can have them put glue on each piece of tissue paper before placing it in the spot. Just beware their little fingers will get sticky.
So after you choose how your going to start the rainbow you can start placing the tissue paper. We chose to start with the pot! Place your glue on either your paper or on the tissue paper. Then place your tissue paper. Once placed slightly crinkle the paper!
After creating the pot and gold, we talked about the colors of the rainbow and what order they went in. We started with purple, then blue, green, yellow, orange and last we did red!
Once the rainbow was complete we talked about why and how rainbows appeared and read the book The Berenstain Bears’ St. Patrick’s Day.
We had so much fun with this activity and I think your kids will too!
