Want a fun and simple fall activity? Try this pumpkin bath!
During the month of October we enjoy doing activities that involve the season change and the holidays coming up. We went to the grocery store and found some super cute tiny pumpkins so we decided to pick up some so we could have them for different activities. The month of October brought some unexpected cold days so we were stuck inside for our activities. Avalynn loves washing dishes anytime I do them so once we got a nice day we rushed outside for our pumpkin washing station.
Water table activities are some of our favorite activities so doing this pumpkin washing bin was perfect. This is such a simple Montessori based activity that you can set up in minutes. The great thing about this activity it helps to teach great practical life skills along with getting the children involved in the environment.
Setting up the Pumpkin Washing Bin
Materials
- Pumpkins
- Plastic container, sink bin large bowl (depending on the size of pumpkins you choose for this activity)
- Water
- Tear free bubble bath
- Sponges and Brushes
We started by adding a couple drops of soup then filling the bucket with water. We then added the pumpkins, sponges and brushes.
Avalynn enjoyed seeing if the pumpkins would float along with she would toss them in and watch the water splash everywhere! This is why I stuck with tear free soap I did not want any of the bubbles getting in her eyes and burning.
Avalynn played with this washing bin for a couple of hours. She would stop but kept going back to wash the pumpkins. This was a great activity to keep her busy and she enjoyed it much more than I expected.
Would your little one enjoy this Pumpkin Washing Station?
