I am so excited to finally bring you my ABCmouse review! Before becoming a stay at home mom, I was an early childhood teacher for 7 years. With my experience as a teacher, I understand the importance of education at a young age. From the beginning I knew that when my child was old enough that I wanted to start her on something but at the time I was not sure what exact program I wanted her to start. Being a former preschool teacher I always heard people mention ABC mouse I started looking into it and seen so many mixed reviews. Normally I am one to jump in and test things my self so a year ago I took the dive and I paid for a year subscription during one of their sales that they offered. At the time my daughter was not quite two yet. After a year of using this I am ready to give my honest review on ABCmouse.

Along with the basic subscription you can choose to add the assessment subscription. This assessment subscription will help to see where your child is and will create custom activities to help your child learn. I just paid for the assessment part with my renewal this month so I will let you know about that once we go through it all.
Getting Started
When I first signed up for ABCmouse it was a little overwhelming. The sign up and registering process can take a little bit but it is very user-friendly and will walk you through each step. If you choose to by the assessment package you will want to start your child off with that so you can see where they are and what they need to work on. If you choose to not go with the assessment you get to choose the level to start your child on.
Once you choose a level for your child to start on you can choose what the teacher looks like along with creating an avatar for your child. This avatar will represent your child. They will have the opportunity to dress their avatar, win and buy clothes for the avatar and so much more. Once you finish setting it all up it is time to let your child begin exploring. From the home screen there are many different areas for them to explore. They can start with lessons chose to play games and even explore the classroom.
Independent Play
This website allows children to play around independently or with supervision. I allow my two-year old to play around with it and when she wants me to see something she lets me know. I find that this website is very safe there are no ads or pop ups to distract the learning. The lessons will guide your child on to the next one which will keep them busy learning.
I teach preschool at home and this is one activity we choose to do during technology time. it allows my child to explore and learn with easy tasks that she can do herself.
Safety
As mentioned above I find this website very safe! There are no pop ups or ads visible on the web page. I hate when kid websites have ads that children can click on.
Do you have to have a computer?
ABCmouse is very flexible when it comes to what it can be used on. They have apps for the kindle, android, apple and desktop. I have never had problems with the desktop app or the apple app but when I use the app on other tablets it seems to be glitchy and runs slow. You need to make sure you do need to make sure you have a good internet connection though.
How much does it cost?
Although ABCmouse hosts specials frequently their normal price for a subscription starts at 7.95 a month. You can save money on your subscription if you go with a 6 or 12 month plan. I know I know why pay for something when there are many free websites and other apps for children to use. There are so many times I see people asking if it is worth the price.
To me yes I feel it is worth it. It is ad and Pop up free. This website creates a very safe environment for children to explore. ABCmouse will teach children things that they would learn in preschool-2nd grade. To send a child to preschool it can cost 200 or more a month. This is only 7.95 a month and your child can do it any where any time! I use this program as a supplement to what I teach my daughter. She loves it, she finds it very fun so she is going to learn more when it is fun.
Another thing I considered when looking into paying ABCmouse it was one of the cheaper preschool curriculum’s that I could find.
What if I have more than one child? Do I have to pay for more yearly subscriptions? No you do not. One benefit about Abcmouse is you can have up to three children on one account!

So is it all worth it?
I have one almost three-year old that uses ABCmouse. We have been using this website for a year now. I absolutely love how excited she gets when she can play this. Everyday she asks for mouse. ABCmouse could entertain her for hours on end if i let it. She loves listening to the songs and coloring the color pages. When thinking of the pros and cons I struggled coming up with cons. This is a website that I will highly recommend to anyone that has a little one!
